The slave collar (or ownership collar) is earned once a sub has been deemed worthy of a long term partnership. Before this union can take place, the sub usually undergoes years of training to convince the Dom that the right decision is being made.

Most slave collars have locks, that of which only the Dom has the key. These collars can never be removed by the sub unless they’ve received permission from the Dom, but typically, the Dom will remove it themselves.

If you’re a Dom and see a sub with a lock on the collar, you should not make any attempt to advance on them. These ownership collars mean that their sub is completely off-limits; so attempting any advancements without the Doms permission would be considered highly disrespectful. You should never be discourteous towards a Dom’s ownership of a sub.
